@@@should have read exploring our new hometown area....@@@

So I must say my wife and I are loving our new home and hometown area. We have no children, so the weekends are ours to explore.
I need some locals ideas for places to venture to.
-we love good food
-we love live music/bar performers/etc

Thanks for your tips, here are some spots we have been already.
St Armands
Bridge Street
Lakewood events
Johns Pass Village and Boardwalk
Ybor
AMI
Siesta Key

Appreciate any thoughts and ideas in the general driveable vicinity

since you're amenable to going out of the area there is usually a very large farm market down in St. Pete starting in October. You can probably finding it by googling it. Also Busch Gardens.

Downtown St. Pete is a great place to spend some time -- restaurants, Vinoy & Straub parks, events. If you're into antiques, there are a number of shops in and near downtown. There are also a number of really great events in downtown St. Pete over the winter months, such as Ribfest, Festival of States, Blues Fest, Taste of Pinellas, etc.

If you have bikes, any section of The Trail is decent, esp on weekdays:
Sarasota Legacy Bike Trail. An alluring trek back to Old Florida.

If you would like to do a relaxing sunset cruise, we have used this operation a couple of times.
Low/no impact, OK apps/cheap wine, quiet, good view, etc.
Sail Venice

And, kayaking or canoeing...esp good in early to mid morning/late afternoon to dusk on weekdays.
