Currently we are part-time Sarasota County residents and have public water supply. Even though SC's water quality is good, according to the water quality summary, my spouse and I always get some kind of gastric upset issues when we drink the tap water. We've called the county and they tested the sources near us and all is within normal limits, according to them. When we switch to bottled water, our digestive issues go away.

Can anyone offer feedback on water filtration options and opinions?

I have no experience with whole-house filters but I've used the type that connect to faucets and they work well. My fridge also filters water. My thought is that your problem must lie in the pipes within your home since the county says your supply is fine. That being the case, using a whole house system would only filter water that would then be subjected to the dirty pipes and you would be right back where you started.

Can you ask the county to test the water from your faucet?

Edit: just looked at a couple of plumbing company websites and they offer flush and sanitize services. That sounds like what you need to me.

We installed a reverse osmosis system under our kitchen sink and it has a separate water dispenser. We use that for our drinking water and have it connected to the line in our refrigerator for the water and ice dispenser there too. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes and install them yourself.

Can you smell the chlorination strongly? Gastric issues could be from over-chlorination not bad water, I had it happen in a northern state home and definitely upset my stomach. I drink spring water by choice and when I go out to a restaurant I can tell when the water is unfiltered because it has a chlorinated taste.

Water tastes different in different parts of the county. That's why movie stars and performers only drink bottled water, so their throat doesn't get weird.

If water is important to you, drinking water than Florida is not for you. Water here sucks. And with more idiots moving in every day its going to get worse.
