It's time once again for the list of events going on in and around the Bradenton - Sarasota - Venice area this weekend. Quite a variety of things to do, warm & sunny flip flop weather all weekend as you head out to any of the following:


FRIDAY

Live Music in the Park -- at Payne Park in Sarasota, music 7 - 9:30 pm, food available to purchase starting at 6 pm, lawn chairs welcome, free admission. Bring your carved pumpkin to participate in the pumpkin contest.

Friday Night Free Music -- Venice's Centennial Park at the gazebo, 7 - 9 pm, lawn chairs welcome.


FRIDAY - SUNDAY

Sarasota Pumpkin Festival -- at Lakewood Ranch's Premier Sports Campus. BIG event, includes pumpkin patch, hay & pony rides, petting zoo, live music, trick or treating for the children, carnival rides & games & more. Free admission, must purchase tickets for carnival rides & games. 12 noon - 10 pm.

Sahib Shrine Garden Brothers Circus -- circus at Robarts Arena, tickets run $8 - $33, ticket info and show times at: Sahib Shriners Circus in Sarasota



SATURDAY

Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown at Lemon & Main, 7 am - 1 pm.

Central Sarasota Farmers Market -- corner Proctor & Beneva, 8 am - 1 pm.

Bradenton Farmers Market -- downtown historic Bradenton, 9 am - 2 pm.


Bradenton's Farmers Market Howl'ween -- bring your pet in costume for contest & parade. Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton. Meet up at 10 am, parade at 10:30 am.

Doggie & Kitty Halloween Festival -- pet parade, prizes, raffles, music, exhibits, pet adoptions. $5 to register pet for parade/contest. Event 10 am - 3 pm, parade at 11:15 am, Five Points Park in downtown Sarasota.

Celtoberfest -- Celtic Fusion - Folk - Rock. Food & craft beers, dance, music, kids tent. 11 am - 10 pm at the Sarasota County fairgrounds. Adults $22, ages 12 & under get in free, free parking.

Sip the Sunshine All FL Craft Beer Festival -- runs 1 - 9 pm, admission ticket includes meal ticket, bottles of water, limited edition glass. Sundown concert. Various ticket prices. Nathan Benderson Park by UTC Mall.

Main Street Live Halloween Party -- Bradenton's old Main Street, 5 pm - midnight. Entertainment 6 - 8 pm, live music 8 - 10 pm, food & drink vendors, arts & crafts vendors. Free admission.

Boo Run & Boo Dash -- Lakewood Ranch's Main Street, starts at 7:45 pm, costumed runners, registration fees for participants.

Hap's Honda Open House and Ride-in Bike Show -- Hap's Honda on 17th St in Sarasota, starts at 10 am.



SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest -- hay & pony rides, pumpkin painting, petting zoo. 10 am - 5 pm, 7410 Fruitville Rd (east of I75).

Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival -- hay & pony rides, petting zoo, rock climbing, roasted sweet corn & lots of pumpkins. 9 am - 5 pm, admission $10/adult, kids 12 & under get in free, $5 parking. CR675 between SR64 & SR70 in Manatee county.



SUNDAY

Bridge Street Market --great farmers market option on Anna Maria Island, 10 am - 3 pm.

Siesta Key Farmers Market -- Siesta Village Plaza, 8 am - 2 pm.

Siesta Key Drum Circle -- just before sunset at Siesta Key public beach, everyone welcome.

Sarasota's Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team performs their water ski show at 2 pm. Behind Mote Marine at 1602 Ken Thompson Pkwy.

Eclectic Fall Garden Music Series at Selby Garden -- each Sunday thru Nov. 13th, 1 - 3 pm. Free admission for Selby members, others $20/adult, children 4 - 17 years of age $10.

Selby Gardens Sppoktacular -- not so scary costume party for the family. 10 am - 5 pm, Selby members get in free, non-members $20/adult. Info at:

Giving Hunger the Blues Music Festival -- 3 stages of music, food vendors. Van Wezel grounds, noon - 9 pm. Adults $75, ages 12 & under get in free. Free parking but be very careful -- if you see an empty lot posted no parking, don't park there, they tow!



MONDAY - HALLOWEEN

Safe Treats Halloween in Siesta Key Village -- runs 3 - 6 pm, look for stores with black and orange balloons.

Trick-or-Treat Stroll at Villages of the Arts -- Bradenton's Village of the Arts, 1113 12th St W, 6 - 8 pm.

Frightful Night on St. Armands Circle -- Trick or treating 6 - 8:30 pm for the children, 8 pm performance of Thriller by the Sarasota High School Drama Dept.

Venice's Childrens Costume and Halloween Parade -- starts at Centennial Park and goes thru downtown Venice where children can trick-or-treat at the various stores & vendors. Starts at 4:30 pm.

On the website for the Sarasota Pumpkin festival it shows $10/ticket and $5 parking.. Am I looking at the wrong one? It shows its at premier sports campus, Sarasotapumpkinfestival.com

Or is it a different one?

The Celticfest was great fun. Not bad attendance for a first year, however, it is odd when women don't seem to care if their kilts blow up in the wind.
