Hey everyone! I am coming down to Bradenton in March for Pirates Spring Training. I am staying out on 14th St about 5 miles from the field. Its about 2.5 miles from the airport. Is this a decent area to walk to restaurants and all or am I in danger. It sounds liek everyone is talking very bad about the city and now I fear Im in danger, but the hotel assured em this is a decent area to walk and all and that nighs arent too bad. Please give me info on where to go and not to go. I will be taxi'ing around but planned on walking when im not doing that. Thanks!

Id say overall, it's not the BEST area. As far as walking to places, there really isn't much to walk to in that area is there? To my knowledge there isn't much over there, butI could be mistaken. Walking around those streets isn't something I would be comfortable with, but maybe Im just paranoid (not to mention female lol). There are many nice places in Bradenton, I would have forked over the money and rented a car instead. Hit the beach, there are some GREAT places to eat by the gulf (Banana Cabana, the Beachhouse, Bridge Street Inn, Mr Bones) I understand that you are going for spring training, but you really should try to enjoy the "beauty" of Bradenton instead of sticking around your hotel. There are also some fun places outside of your general area that could be great for evening (75th & Manatee, Tequila Beach for sports bar atmosphere and good food, bands at night, Hooters on 41, the Winghouse) Your not too far from St Armands circle either, just over the bridge-- some great places there, Gilligans, Columbia and what a nice atmosphere..
