If you are working with a Realtor, first check with he or she. If no luck, contact the manager of the bank or the title company that is handling the property.

As the buyer, your attorney would represent you and your interests but would not be involved in resolving the short sale, itself. So, even if the listing agent is handling both sides, any attorney s/he might recommend would still have a fiduciary duty to you. I would not, however, use the same attorney who is handling the short sale for the seller.
