We are visiting Venice in a couple of weeks, and staying on the island. What reasonably priced restaurants are good these days? Italian? Seafood? Pizza? BBQ? Breakfast? Places with a view or good atmosphere would be a plus.

We'll probably go to Sharkeys, Snookhaven, and Pops sunset grille for lunches, based on their locations. But recommendations of others would be appreciated.

Thanks

Crows Nest near the South Jetty- dining area upstairs with view of marina, more reasonably priced if you eat in the pub downstairs. Variety of food. Good steak, salmon.
Italian - Lunas downtown Venice near theatre offers huge portions, Valenti's on Venice Ave. also excellent Italian.
Robbi's Reef off Rt. 41 north of the bypass offers a variety of items such as smoked brisket, seafood
West Coast Seafood on Rt. 41 also north of bypass offers good seafood
Fins by Sharkeys is excellent but pricey
Try Salty Dogs near the Circus Bridge for lunch, outdoor deck, overlooks small marina.
The Soda Fountain in downtown Venice has good pizza.
Bogeys is a favorite sports bar on Venice Ave
Sandtrap across from Walmart on Rt41 in Publix mall is also good, Cedar Reef fish house there also
Just a few that I could immediately think of.

I recently got this list from a long-time Venice resident, some of his recommendations. I have not tried any of them.

Downtown Venice
- Made In Italy, Pizza / Italian
- Daiquiri Deck, daiquiris… and a patio
- Soda Fountain of Venice, Thin pizza / Ice Cream / Beer buckets

Close to Downtown Venice
- Gold Rush BBQ, BBQ
- Darrell's Restaurant, BBQ + other stuff

Greater Venice
- Cedar Reef Fish Camp, Fish - actually two locations
- Buffalo Bill's Brew-B-Q, BBQ + other stuff
- Mi Pueblo, Mexican Food

JJGittes65 - My husband and I are heading down to Venice and surrounding areas mid-May. Please let me know which restaurants you liked and which ones you didn't. Also, we'll have our fur baby with us at all times so we need dog-friendly restaurants preferably near the water.

If you are out and about........ stop in for the Happy Hour special at SaltWater Cafe! They have oysters on the half shell for $0.60 each. and they are fantastic! They also have great lobster and prime rib/king crab leg dinners! They have an all you can eat stone crab dinner that is a feast!

Enjoy!

Venice Steak & Seafood Restaurant, Nokomis restaurant

We had a great dinner at Luna's. Probably our best real meal.

Breakfast was good at Flapjacks.

Hot Dogs good at Sandcastles at the jetty.

Fun time at Snookhaven.

Pop's Sunset Grill had great view and nice live music, but some of the staff was downright rude, and one of the waitresses (next table over) was erratic, annoying and sloppy.

Enjoyed the pizza and ice cream at the Soda Fountain.

Ice cream at the Creamery was fantastic too, as was the service.

The t shirt store and Captains Landing next to the creamery had nice things. Spent some money at both. Actually, several stores along Venice Ave were nice and not overpriced, imo.

Myakka River State park was beautiful. Venice beach was fantastic.

Ringling was fun, and free, on monday.

Sharkeys was Sharkeys.

Also ate at Patricks on Main St in Sarasota. Very lively, food OK.

Venice is an easy place to have a low key good time.

Any thoughts on Made in Italy? On yelp the reviews are mixed and said there was a recent change in ownership?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I hope most of these restaurants will allow our puppy on the patios (if they have them). I'm counting down the days and can't wait to get there.
