We always marvel at restaurants, stores and services available in a city the size of SRQ. But considering the number of golf courses around there's slim pickins for retail golf stores. We'll probably buy new, but used equipment is always fun to sort through. Anything other than Edwin Watts?

GOOG is your friend: Golf Shops in Sarasota/Golf Shops in Venice...
Both searches return several.

There is a golf consignment joint in Sarasota, also.

Seems like the game of golf is on the decline. Not only expensive, it's time consuming, and they have been losing players and golf courses for years.
Add in showrooming and the Golf shops are in trouble.

I have no connection to the game or the person or persons who run the little store in Pinecraft. I find it interesting that they have been around for a few years now. They must be doing something right.

A lot of the big time CC's have pro shops anyway. Methinks the game of golf itself is doing fairly well - with younger men, and of course with women. Golf isn't basketball, golf isn't American football - it doesn't even attract the same sports demographic , i.e. income, region, race, etc)...some people think NASCAR is waning (it's not) - btw golf isn't Nascar either.

Just Google "is golf dying" I agree that they have pro shops, but they only carry certain brands. If you want another brand you have to go elsewhere. Unless of course you want Nike, formerly a huge sponsor, which doesn't sell clubs anymore.
Same with Nascar. They don't even refer to them as stock cars anymore. I saw some of a race on TV recently. The camera's were carefully avoiding shots of empty grandstands. There are exceptions like Daytona and Talladega, etc, but it is losing it's way too.

Try this golf shop! Golf shop in Port Charlotte, FL | Your Golf Shop

You would need to travel a bit south... to Venice... but we shop here with them and they have a great selection! They have fair prices and they are incredibly helpful. This is a fun story about the owners... they started out selling items at the flea market in Port Charlotte and the Dome flea market in Venice. They obtained such a following from the local golfers and snowbirds kept coming back to them they decided to take a chance and open a shop. They are doing very well because they are not overpriced and can help you with anything you want. My whole family golfs........ I do not see it as a sport that is drifting away. The nice thing about Florida is that you can play year around..... but of course during season the prices go up. You can purchase a discount card for $50.00 called the BIG SUMMER CARD. The courses in the area take the card as a "discount" card. It saves you a significant amount of money on greens fee's during golf play April 15th through the end of September. You can register on line and they will mail the card to you. It is definitely worth getting.

There are over 1200 golf courses in Florida.... more than any other state....You will have lots to choose from!
