Just because a Dentist will not do a cleaning due to gaps doesnt mean it's a scam. Our Dentist of 10+ years, who was also our neighbor said he could no longer do the cleaning until I saw a Peridontist. He referred me to on nearby, and gave me all of my patient records, and suggested I schedule a visit soon. I have since moved to Southern Sarasota County, so now am looking for a Peridontist referral in Laurel/Nokomis/Venice/North Port areas. Can anyone out there provide a referral to me?

My neighbor wasn't scamming me. There had to be a legit reason he could no longer do the cleaning he had been doing for 10+ years. I'm not sure what that reason is, but after one of you provides me a solid Peridontist referral, and I see him/her, I'll get the reason why then report back you all.

I'm not saying it is NEVER a scam, I'm just saying its not ALWAYS a scam. My neighbor had nothing to gain by this. He's a friend who has been doing our entire families dental work for a long time. He had no incentive to jeorpardize the relationship by scamming us.

Has anyone on this site had any expeience with Comfort Dental on East Venice Ave?

"Sounds like the old office is the same office here in Florida that I went to."

Old Gal - Probably is, would love to know. PM me with which office you went to, and I'll reply with which one I went to.

Your dentist for 10+ years - as well as neighbor - refused to do a cleaning until you saw a periodontist - but didn't tell you why? Was there anything noted in the patient records he gave you? And you will be relying on a new periodontist - someone who be working on your for the first time, and with whom you have no prior relationship - to tell you what your previous dentist did not? Good luck.

The gaps were too large for them to clean adequately. They didnt have the right equipment to do deep cleaning. The patient records showed the gaps, several >5. I'm going to a Peridontist down here, not a Dentist.

I was looking for a Peridontist referral, do you have one, or did you just to make comments that are no use to me or anyone else? Nevermind, I know the answer. Thanks for nothing.

You're welcome, because I have nothing to offer you. Read my lips in my other posts. Again, my previous dental office - that said I needed periodontal "deep cleaning" because I had periodontal "disease" - is one that I would not recommend to anyone because my new dental office determined that I don't have periodontal disease, and don't need the deep cleaning after all. Hence, my "scam" concerns. So - unless anyone else has any reliable recommendations for you, good luck finding a reputable provider on your own. The world is full of the other kind.
