On a recent trip to Venice, we noticed a lot of empty/and new construction on main street. We wondered what types of shops you would like to see downtown. Thanks in advance!

In case my original question wasn't clear, I thought I'd try to clarify a bit. We have been coming to Venice for about 15 years and love the town. One day we'd like to retire here, but are wondering if maybe there is a business we could start and move down sooner. I think that women's fashion and souvenir shops are covered. The existing croissant bakery is perfection and the hammock shops is a must visit.

I am not from FL, but I think a lot of older folks have dogs. They spend tons of money on them, everything from toys to clothes, even strollers

Thanks for the replies! I'm not a good candidate for opening a diner, but can't recommend the cafe in the Venice airport enough. We easily eat there every other morning we are there. We love chef Tony!!

A casual little mexican restaurant. I'd even be good with counter service and a few little tables to eat at. Include fish tacos on the menu. We'd go weekly. Please, no more italian.
