I am from out of state and looking to buy a house in 34205 zipcode (bwt 9th Ave W-17th Ave W and 18th St W-14th St W) of Bradenton, Florida. Is it a good idea? Is it a safe neighborhood? Is it a good investment?
I would be so grateful for your input.

Meh. It's not the worst but it's not the best either. Not necessarily straight up ghetto, just can be trashy (especially right off 14th)... seedy motels and drug activity.

As Bob mentioned, the crime stats for that zip code can be found, city-data also offers crime stats and demographics for areas.

Whether buying a home in this particular zip code is a good idea or a good investment for you depends on a lot of info about your needs, goals, finances etc that we don't have.

It seems you are just beginning to think about buying a home in our area, are just starting the process. It takes time to learn an area, it's local real estate market. What often happens during that learning process is that the buyer who had plan A for home buying ends up going with plan B or C. Which is OK, as buyers become more educated on the local market they do often revise their plans based on the newly gained information. You may not yet be ready to focus on zip codes or neighborhoods at this point in time, based on what you have said here on the forum.

Have you visited the Bradenton area recently? If not, my suggestion would be to plan at least one or two trips to become better acquainted with the area. Once you have narrowed down the area to focus on to a few specifics, an agent can then suggest neighborhoods based on your price range and other characteristics you are looking for in your next home.
