My wife and I are looking to donate some good used clothes which we just don't use any more. What we don't want to do is give them to Goodwill or some other organization that just takes these things for granted. What I'm trying to say is we want them to be used and worn by some really needy people. We're more than willing to drop them off in the Sarasota area.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Consider The Salvation Army. Or, inquire through a few churches who are involved with programs for the needy and/or homeless.

Yes yes yes ! Goodwill is the biggest retail scam there is! I agree with the Salvation Army, and I would call Catholic Charities, as well as Jewish Family and Children Service serves many populations and needs. God Bless!

Davis Thrift in Venice. It's not a charity, but is a family owned business and their prices are very low. People who need them will be able to buy them there.

Charities generally GIVE and DONATE clothes to the end users....why would someone suggest a needy person go buy anything? thrift shops operate just like any other retail bs business, they are "for profit"

I'd recommend trying Catholic Charities. They have several specific missions that could use your clothes, like Our Mother's House, which mostly serves women, and Bethesda House, which usually has more men.

Thanks for your suggestions. I asked my neighbor and by chance mentioned Bethesda House and spoke very highly of them.
