Hi everyone! My family will be boating up to the Tampa area this summer from Venice on just a pontoon and we are trying to find overnight accommodations near marinas on the way up. Can anyone direct me to an inn/motel/B&B in Anna Maria that is near a marina? We will have to schlep out luggage off the boat so would like it to be fairly close.

Also, does anyone have any experience boating between AMI and Fort Desoto in a smaller vessel? We are about 22 feet. I have tons of ocean boating experience just not on the west coast.

Any and all tips or advice are welcome!

Yes I would try Waterline on AMI. They have slips for rent there and they are a hotel. On AMI that is pretty much your only option for a hotel/marina.

Boating between AMI and Ft Desoto is pretty easy depending on your engine and water conditions. As long as you check the water conditions you should be fine. There are a few pontoons we see that go out to Passage/Egmont. Most of the ones that go to Ft Desoto are more fishing boats.

Thanks so much for the feedback. What is Passage/Egmont?

We have stayed at both of these and they are very decent....
The Bridgewalk is about 2 blocks from a Marina and same from a "free" large anchorage south of the Bradenton Pier. Dozens of boats there - I think they just drop anchor and that's that.

Beach Front Hotel & Resort on Anna Maria Island

Lots of very shallow water in the area, so check the tides and use the channels that are marked when inland or even close to the shore in the Gulf.

Thank you! I was able to find it and looks wonderful.

My concern is making the pass this summer in a 22 foot pontoon. We will have the freedom to wait out choppy waters.

Appreciate everyone's input!

Thanks!
