ok... im seeing not to many homes available with a seperate inlaw in my price range. i was looking at a forclosure that had one seperate from the house detatched. it was basically one big square room with a devider wall for bedroom and and a bathroom. i dont know square feet but like the size of 2 car garage.
just an average of what something like this might cost to add on? what are the problems i might have doing so?

just wondering.

I was wondering the same thing - in my price range I don't see any houses with a guest house or separate mother-in-law quarters so I thought we might have to build it. But $150,000 for an addition the size of an average 2 car garage? Wow! My 2 car garage is 480 sq ft so that means construction cost would be more than $300 per sq ft. Seems kind of steep.

im thinking the same thing. that does seem to be an awful lot for a garage size apt...
i think its very wrong!!! i just got that from a friend who said she was told that.
anyone i talk to is telling me that s not accurate.
im thinking i might just convert our garage into an inlaw and add the garage later.
sorry for the inacurate info. .

I'm not sure who quoted you $150,000, but you can build a smaller single family home for that price. What area are you in? I can give you the contact information for a good builder that can do additions who can give you a more realistic quote.
