Im looking for an area where my family can go on a small one day (not overnight) camping trip. Somewhere to fish, do a bonfire for lunch and picnic.. Does anyone have any ideas, other than Myakka State park which is a bit far..I live in Bradenton..

If Myakka State Park is too far, I guess that Arcadia and the KOA campground is out of the question.

Why not go to the beach parks? You can do a bit of a fire in the grill pits they have. You can fish there too! South Lido Beach park is good for that too. Myakka River is the best I can think of though....
