I'm having a problem pulling up the average cost of a 2 br/1 bath condo or a very small bungalow home in DOWNTOWN Sarasota. Does someone have those figures or know where I can find them?
How much further is the housing and condo market in Sarasota predicted to fall? And when is it predicted to bottom out?

You're probably looking at around 1K...depends on the landlord. I pay $825 & live downtown in a 1/1 near Burns Court.

I don't know if you are talking about buying, but the zip code for downtown is 34236, and I was just checking listings there the other day, and everything in this zip is vastly overpriced, and much of it is in an "iffy" area. I know because I used to live there. There are much better deals in some nearby neighborhoods south of downtown. Judging from some of the great buys I saw listed in other neighborhoods, I would say Sarasota is at or near the bottom right now.

Default Downtown 'Sota

There are many options in the marketplace for a downtown condo or single family house in Sarasota. Gypsychic mentioned some “iffy” areas; however, they are located north of downtown and are not really that bad. Although, I would recommend that you keep your search parameters to south of Fruitville, North of Mound and west of Tuttle. These are the best areas in my opinion. There are around 200 condos and 50 single family homes on MLS at this time in this specific geographic area. The condo’s range in price from $6.2 Million for a 6500 Sq ft, 4 bedroom/4.5 bathroom to $180K for a 700sq ft, 1/1 condo downtown. The Single Family Houses range from $1.5 million for a 3000 sq ft, 4/4 in Laurel Park to $180K for a 1050 sq ft, 2/1 in Paver Park Estates. You can also find rentals from $800 to $$$$$$. Good Luck!
