Yes--I get the native plants advice but many FL plants (IMO) are not that attractive
The impatiens in the back are holding their own and I replaced the ones in the front with something doing better

But you are right--
Watering twice a day especially early enough in AM is no fun

What about purslane? It might be a good substitute for impatiens.

Pentas can work if you have partial shade. Ixora and plumbago are pretty hardy also. Plumbago reminds me of hydrangas.

Unfortunately -- or fortunately -- if you want a lower maintenance yard, you have to get used to the plants. It's a different climate. There are enough choices though, that you really should be able to find some that you like. I love bougainvilla but have been banned from planting it because of the thorns, ha.

You can't really go wrong with Pentas.
Coreopsis look similar to daisies, are drought-tolerant and easy to grow.
Purslane does well in our hot summer months.
Mexican heather is easy to grow too.
Rain lilies, day lilies and society garlic are nice, very easy to maintain.
