Have travel plans for Siesta Key over the Christmas holidays. Wondering what to expect as the water should have had a chance to cool. I have a cancel window until the middle of September.

Thanks!

No one can tell you what to expect. This year is one of the worst in memory but it could be a distant memory by then....or....

I'll take sarcasm for $1,000,000.00 ~ what is will I win Fantasy 5 today?

No one knows, go read up on Facebook because that seems to be the only media that cares right now.

Red tide is not necessarily seasonal. It’s been know to last > a year.

I was talking to a woman that works at Mote Marina and she just said that it is slowly moving northward. That is all I have on the subject. I went to two beaches while I was there a few days ago, just to have a look. The beaches were empty pretty much and there was a smell of fish. I was at Lido and Venice. Both were about the same at the time. Water looks odd. There were boaters though and for some reason quite a few of them. I wouldn't go around the water at the moment much. Very sad that it is going on and on.

At the end of the day, I don't think ANYONE can tell you what it would be like around Christmas. If I were going to guess, I would say it will be okay, but the chances of me being right are about 50%.
