Hi Everyone,

Hope you all have a great weekend, Here's the list of fun things I've found that are going on in the Sarasota - Bradenton - Venice area:



SATURDAY

Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown at Lemon & Main, 7 am - 1 pm. Please note: market has moved temporarily to First Street & Lemon due to construction going on in the Lemon & Main area.

Central Sarasota Farmers Market -- corner Proctor & Beneva, 8 am - 1 pm.

Bradenton Farmers Market -- downtown Bradenton on Main Street, 9 am - 2 pm.

Light Up Siesta Key & Village Holiday Parade -- event runs 5 - 9 pm, parade at 5:30, Santa arrives at 6:15. Santa, live music, carolers & entertainment. Parade route is Avenid del Mare at Beach Rd to north on Beach Rd to Ocean Blvd.

Tree Lighting Ceremony at Bradenton Beach -- tree lighting, music, Santa. End of Bridge St at Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island, 5:45 pm.

Fall Family Fishing Tournament -- at the Venice Pier, 8 - 11 am, sign up at Papa's Bait Shop on the pier, bring unwrapped toy donation as registration fee.

Venice Holiday Parade -- THE holiday parade of the season. Starts 7 pm. New route this year due to construction going on at Venice Ave. From Park east on Venice Ave to Harbor Dr, north on Harbor, east on Tampa Ave, south on Nokomis, west on Milan & finishes up on Nassau. Go early, parking can be difficult due to the crowds.

Goat Yoga -- yoga with the goats at Fruitville Grove, 7410 Fruitville Rd, 7 - 10 pm. Registration & fee required.

Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop -- pastry chef from Mattison's 41 will lead a class on gingerbread house decorating, all supplies furnished. $50/gingerbread house, max 3 participants per house. 1 - 4 pm, Art Center Manatee, 209 9th St W in Bradenton. Ph: 921-3400




SATURDAY & SUNDAY

Lakewood Ranch Seafood & Music Festival -- seafood, live music, gourmet food items, arts & crafts. Free general admission, VIP = $75/person. Sat 11 am - 10 pm, Sun 11 am - 6 pm. Lakewood Ranch's Main Street.




SUNDAY

Bridge Street Market --great farmers market option on Anna Maria Island, 10 am - 3 pm

Coquina Beach Market -- at the south end of Coquina Beach, 10 am - 4 pm (Not sure if open this week due to Red Tide.)

Siesta Key Farmers Market -- Siesta Village Plaza, 8 am - 2 pm

Siesta Key Drum Circle -- just before sunset at Siesta Key public beach, everyone welcome.

Ski-A-Rees ski show -- 2 - 3 pm, 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (by Mote Marine).

Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop -- pastry chef from Mattison's 41 will lead a class on gingerbread house decorating, all supplies furnished. $50/gingerbread house, max 3 participants per house. 1 - 4 pm, Mattison's 41, 7275 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Ph: 921-3400

The festival in LWR was a huge disappointment for us. Oh well.

These seafood festivals are mostly the same 10 vendors who go from festival to festival. Their prices are not any better than you could find at a sitdown seafood restaurant. I don't get the allure. The Cortez Seafood Festival is the most authentic.

Agreed. I think it is one of the oldest as well, and for those that think or claim there is no fresh fish available in the immediate area, they don't know what they're talking about. I moved from Egret Harbor practically across the street before going over the bridge, and I used to dart across the street to buy a ton of fresh fresh....now i drive....LOL
