Hubby & I will be in Florida later this month. We'd like to spend one night in Sarasota so we can check out the area. Can you please recommend a few names of hotel/motels that we can stay overnight? Nothing fancy, literally just a place to sleep, but definitely *safe/clean*. When I search online, of course there are so many, but its difficult to tell without knowing the area.

Here's a rough itinerary of areas we will be looking at, so anything along the way is fine. It doesn't matter if it's right by the beach or not:
-Nokomis, Osprey, Venice.
-Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, surrounding Sarasota areas.

Thanks!

There are several in Lakewood Ranch and I’ve never heard anything negative about any of them. You could stay at one and start your visit at the Lakewood Ranch Info Center. You might want to set up an appointment with them ahead of time although it’s not necessary.

Don’t quote me but I think they can even get you a discounted rate at one of the nearby hotels.

Thanks, that's good to know. Do you happen to know the names of any of those hotels in LWR? This way I can search/book something on my own. I prefer not to make appts/deal with agents on this trip. It will be our 1st time checking out the whole area, so we prefer to explore at our own pace (at least for this time around). Thanks.

Just to be clear, the Lakewood Ranch Info Center is not staffed by agents. They are employed by the developer, SMR, and there to give you an overview of Lakewood Ranch in general and, if you want it, information on the new construction areas. There is a lot to know about Lakewood Ranch and you will miss most of it if you only drive through a few streets. Trust me...you will be doing yourselves a true disservice if you don't go and ask them for the complete info presentation. They also do regular van tours and that is also worth doing although there is an emphasis on new areas.

For hotels, I have a pdf with the hotel info given out by the info center. I was able to lift this info from the PDF:

We did something similar a few years ago and stayed a few nights at Inn at the Beach in Venice, which was quite nice. Small place, more of a motel vibe, but convenient. We then drove up to Anna Maria Island and stayed at Torguga for a few nights, and have since returned for longer stays at different VRBOs.

We stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn Airport twice and had a great stay both times.

It's so centrally located. I highly recommend this place.

Just be aware of the bed bug factor; check your mattress & box springs where ever you end up staying. These pests do not know price or location and are abundant all over Florida & will hitch hike on your luggage for a free ride.

When I was interviewing down here I wanted to stay here. I chose LWR for some other reason and now that I live here so glad I didnt stay at Bentleys ONLY bc the job prospect was on Cortez Rd.
On a map, that looks like a nothing commute until you live here for 3.5 minutes then you realize

No real point to my comment, but you sparked a memory

There is a new Marriott in downtown Bradenton, overlooks the river, and walk distance to the downtown shops and restaurants. Roof top pool. Also right across from Pier 22 (one of our favorite waterfront restaurants). Haven't stayed there (newly built). Looks nice from the exterior.
