We prefer a single family home instead of condo.
Are there any favorite websites for research?
Moving from Chicago if that helps.
Thanks!
Try 75th Street between Cortez Road, and Manatee Ave. (Bradenton 34209). It is maybe 3 or 4 miles to Anna Maria Island. Plenty to do. Downtown Bradenton, Riverwalk area has restaurants and shops. Robinson Preserve, Neal preserve (my husband is avid nature photographer). The area is close enough to Sarasota (Van Wezel for performing arts), and Tampa as well. We often go into Tampa to see shows at the Straz. We find the area very centrally located to many things we enjoy, and within a few miles of the beach (Coquina in particular). Try Palma Sola Trace for a newer mixed use community of Condo/Townhomes, Villas and Single family homes. There are some older communities along 75th as well.

Thumbs up Consider a villa

Hi,
Are you still working?
Is this a year round move or snowbirding?
Consider a villa. This is usually two homes connected. All usually concrete block so you never would ....hear....the other half.. you would never know you weren't in a single family home .
Slightly more affordable than a single family. $225,000-$250,000.
Check for HOA fees...$230... a month including your basic cable, all lawn mowing, ususally lanscaping shrubs, the community pool & clubhouse... The HOA protects the way your neighborhood looks and how it is maintained.... gives you a chance at social gatherings to meet other like minded / age people..
Condo fees are MUCH higher....avg is around $500. Per month... that really adds up..
Go on realtor.com and use the filter to check out different cities with the features u desire..2/2/& den& garage etc..put in your price range, then read the " monthly cost" to see the FEES.....
.......Venice is charming and a lot of building going on & providing a lot of housing....10-15 min drive to the beach...25 min to Sarasota for ....more... nightlife, live theater ( Venice now has large performance center)
.....North Port is becoming a desirable area because of many new shopping areas...very reasonable housing options....probably $50,000-$100,000 less than Venice per house. Has choice of Manasota beach or Venice beach, both more like 30 min drive. Once you " live" here....most of us are not going to the beach but only occasionally...not daily...you are now doing other things.
.....if you are still working you will find your age group.....
Just a little FYI...
Good luck...
D
