I haven't had any accidents - perfect driving record. Still my Florida car insurance premiums have increased by about 50% over the past eight years. My carrier is National General. I will say that when I first started using them they were about 20% cheaper than the competition. Haven't bothered doing any comparison shopping recently.

I had auto with State Farm for a time but when I bought my house they were quite a bit higher compared with quotes I got from Chapman insurance agency. They have been very good to work with and will shop around for the best deal.

If you're from Chicago moving to Florida, get ready for sticker shock on insurance! Much more expensive in Florida! I suggest looking for an insurance broker to help you find a good rate!

The thing about insurance in Florida is that:
First, your good driving record really doesn't count. You're going to pay more because of all the bad drivers PLUS the Lawsuit business crap here. Total BS.
Second, you'll pay more for Homeowners Insurance because, well, it's Florida and hurricanes happen, plus even if the hurricane happens somewhere else , the insurance companies try to make up the loss by raising the rates all across the board everywhere.

I remember back in the day, all the snowbirds from up North would insure their cars here b/c it was cheaper.

I moved from FL to GA, and I thought it would be a significant decrease in premiums. NOPE! My rates were higher for auto! Home insurance is lower, but not by much. I had GEICO in FL, and have Travelers in GA. I'll be shopping soon.

Currently my wife both 40, we i have American Family Ins full coverage on both our cars one is a 2012 and the other 2018, $500.00 deductibles per car, extras as in rental, underinsured and more property damage coverage, our monthly premium is $231.00 a month with both clean driving records. we are located not in Chicago proper but one county to the west of cook.

I looked up Geico and priced it out and we are about the same price with all the features for auto.. will see if it drops if i do a bundle package adding in the house.

thanks for all the info everyone. let keep this trade going.
