If they keep the lots closed they may as well not open them. How is anyone going to get to most of the beaches without parking in the lot?

I agree. They should place a construction barrell in every other spot to insure social distancing, in the first 2 or 3 rows, and have a police officer monitoring them to make sure idiots dont move the barrells.

If they dont open the lots, cars will park along surrounding residential streets.

For some beaches there are no residential areas and streets are too narrow to park on the road, like the beaches near Sharkeys down to Casperson.

In that case, you'd have to take a bicycle to access the remote beaches.

Walking and biking for those who live close enough to do either. This doesn’t seem feasible: the county is opening the beaches, but you have to figure out how to make it work.

"Parking lots will not re-open in an effort to keep people from bringing chairs, blankets and umbrellas onto the beach. While commissioners will revisit the issue in the coming weeks, some feared that it would cause vehicles to pile up in surrounding neighborhoods."

They will cause the very problem they want to avoid. Any residential area will have people parking there now. And then they will use the fact that cars were parked in residential areas as an excuse to close the beaches again.

Starting to think this is a "bone" thrown to residents that will quickly be snatched away ... because they never intended to actually give it to us...

Here's another article on the topic of beaches that perhaps explains things a little better:

Sarasota County beaches will open, sort of, Monday; Venice and City of Sarasota make announcements also
