So many young healthy people riding electric bikes now for " EXERCISE " on the Legacy trail.
Florida is flat, meaning no hills.

EXERCISING with that electric bike, eh?

BTW, is they a POSTED directive on the trail about "motorized" ANYthing?? if not, it's perfectly legal unless the county ordinances describe the Trail as a SIDEWALK or similar pedestrian conveyance

Just found your answer: RULES OF THE TRAIL

(5) Public access is allowed by pedestrians, bicycles and electric bicycles (“E- bike”) which are generally regulated in the same manner as traditional bicycles.

Soooooo....your question is moot it seems. Let them be, it's called freedom. It might be odd to ride an e-bike, but it's nobody's bidness....LOL

I think they both have their place. Sometimes you are out for exercise and sometimes you just want to be outside for other reasons. Especially on days like today with extreme heat warnings. Might be nice to have the cool breeze without the pedaling.

Bob and Wendy both 55ish years young managed to bike the entire Legacy Trail in the course of 2 hours. They both gained 3 lbs each in doing so.. How is this possible?

Hey guys we biked the entire Legacy Trail today.. Neighbors looked and spied 2 EBIKEs hanging off the back of the NISSAN ROGUE.

Bob and Wendy are always biking around town, but never seem to lose any weight?? And, Bobs going in for bypass surgery even though he bikes all the time, everywhere?

Sure, ebikes are cool... But, for some people they are NO BUONO!

My personal thoughts are that if the bikes are legal and people want to use them on the Legacy Trail, why should that be anyone else's business?

Perhaps some of the people have physical disabilities (which are not always apparent) that prevent them from pedaling a regular bicycle. Knee or hip replacements, respiratory issues, heart issues..... there are lots of possible reasons. Perhaps some riders just want to have fun, get outdoors for fresh air but prefer to do their exercising in say, a gym.

Isn't our country going through enough strife and civil unrest? Do we really need to start an attack on electric bike riders???

Perhaps we all need to brush up on our tolerance of those who's behavior or opinions we do not agree with.

Some people are too old or sick to ride a regular bike - they enjoy their electric bikes
