I had to retire early and had plans to live with a son except he got a new live in girlfriend and this is not working out. I have some family in Bradenton / Sarasota area and push come to shove least would not be all alone. I can buy a reasonable Mobile home cash and with pension and social monthly expenses wouldn’t be bad to handle. But the catch is that because I had to retire before I planned my credit will not be stellar.
My question is, with the mobile home parks and credit rules, or exceptions etc. could this even be possible. I plan on a summer move so not drove down to look around yet or apply.
When I had a job leasing apts., folks with bad credit were simply subject to higher deposits. Mostly 3 time rent. I’d like any information or experience. I figure our Canadian Friends don’t have credit, or socials so maybe it’s possible. Thanks!

Is the issue your credit or your age? (Going by the title vs what you wrote in the post itself.) If it's your age, I think you'll be out of luck until you're 55 unless you can rent from or live with someone who is 55. "Rent from" meaning you live in their mobile home with them.

I have no idea what type of credit you need for a mobile home community, though, if that's the issue and you are already 55. You need to fill out an application at each of the parks (my inlaws are currently buying a winter home here so we have been helping them with that stuff), so you could probably call and ask what the requirements are.

I’m retired almost 68. I know normally what leasing agents say - just fill out the appl and pay the fee. I did that job many years ago. I’m going to go there in the summer and look around. I do wonder about the credit criteria, for a lot , as you would be owning the home itself. So much has changed with mobile homes parks. Just wondering if anyone here ever went through the process. I’ve owned 4 homes in Fl. It’s a lot of work and money. I have also lived in MH when we were military, not bad at all, at least, I’ll have my own space to and not renting.
