Nay, this story was all over the Observer a little while ago. Nothing new with the degradation of the entire area of Manatee/Sarasota for decades due to the influx of shady people, and transplants of questionable character. Like no other time before...dopeheads, dope dealers, scam artists, shady financial experts, shady pool contractors/builders/handymen, web-based crime (lots of online sex cammers for example), illegal migrants working in the restaurant industry, tattooed up newly arrived servers/bartenders/car salesmen/technicians etc mostly all from well outside Florida. I'm not surprised at all-seen it go downhill for decades. Some of the worst live in nice, gated communities, although this rather nice location is not gated. Nice, used to mean nice people and nice neighbors. Not anymore. Lookup your own street/community on the sheriff's website! You just might be shocked what's really going on-recently and over the past 20 yrs. Too many people, too much development, too much relocation.

At least Manatee County Sherriffs Office is transparent about dispatched calls..it’s so easy to check crime on any street in Manatee County..unfortunately Sarasota Sherriffs Office is not the same, no capability to look up dispatched call history on a street going back a few years.
Buyer beware..know crime history before purchasing a home. Too many uniformed residents are flooding the market and not knowing enough about the area. That’s just plain stupid. When we were searching for homes and rentals, we looked up every single address relating to dispatched calls. Unfortunately, I’ve heard many buyers are purchasing homes from out of town based upon pics on the web! IMO, crazy, crazy..the block could have a history of a mental person hanging in the neighborhood with multiple disturbances

You are correct about Sarasota County Sheriff's office AND The City of Sarasota. They really have never wanted to "publicize" all of the shady and dangerous goings-on for decades for FEAR of the nasty stuff would tarnish their "artsy, progressive and upscale" desire to separate themselves from what every in Sarasota labelled as 'Bradenton' (meaning for THEM, EVERYTHING in Manatee County). They constantly labelled Manatee and the tiny city of Bradenton as fraught with unbelievable crime, thereby elevating the bs image of Sarasota when it came to discussing and revealing the actual crime and numbers of questionable characters and residents actually living and moving there. They also even report crimes differently from a statistical perspective. This has been true for decades about drug dealing, property crime, swindling/fraud, financial crimes (insurance, investments-securities), gambling, and lots of prostitution (to this day the epicenter is in Sarasota County, run by so-called Ukrainian (actually Russian) organized crime - most residents and all of the new transplants have NO idea)

That it is free from crime..criminals “hang” by a gate
Just waiting for entrance
Evil has no boundaries. I know for a fact might not see the kid selling dope on the corner- behind the HOA big gate, but lots of crap going on in many of these neighborhoods. Lots of white collar crime- drugs and spouse abuse- child abuse, human trafficking etc. Not all wealth is made with clean hands.

I agree. I will add that Lakewood Ranch is the poster child for these kinds of people mostly new arrivals and transplants attracted to the sunnylife
