I’m hooked up to county water so I don’t normally use my irrigation system due to exorbitant sewer rates. Has anyone on this forum installed a separate meter for irrigation? If so, is it required that the County install it or just a licensed plumber? How expensive is the installation?

where would you get the water to the sprinkler system? do you hae a well. Otherwise the source would be the same since the water is still from the county

Water is the same source for irrigation, but a separate meter is used to not charge for sewer. The sewer charge is the most expensive part of the water bill.

I don't think so. The sewer charge would not be included in the irrigation meter.

Don't know where you're in SRQ county, but we concocted a homemade pvc "drill" and hit the aquifer that runs through SRQ county fairly easily.....installed a pump and even a T, one-way valve to the pool pump with a shut off valve - the water coming out of the aquafer was unbelievably pure and we tested it - it was better than most bottled water...we connected that water source to the irrigation system on a T valve and a shut off as well (also one-way valve to eliminate back-flows)
