SARASOTA COUNTY — A plan to charge people up to $2 an hour to park at all of Sarasota County's beaches moved ahead Wednesday, with a final County Commission decision expected later this year.

I'm not a beach goer, so i really don't care. But, if i go to Siesta public beach, it's like going to a zoo. Fighting over parking spot is not worth my time, and we're out of the season.

I rarely go to the beach either.. but if I do I don't mind paying 2 bucks. Someones got to pay for beach maintainance and upkeep, and it should be those that go to the beach instead of the homeowners and community that never use them.
I agree with you about Siesta Key... get there early if you want to go otherwise it's just a waste of time.

I read that in the paper also last week. The fee will be $2/hour or $10/day with an annual pass for a resident costing $30 and a non-resident $75. If I own a house there and only live there part time, am I still a resident? Would a utility bill from FLPD or a tax bill be sufficient to prove residency?

Thanx
