I am pretty much smack dab halfway between Tampa and Port Charlotte here in Lakewood Ranch. Find someplace close to the 75 fwy in LWR or Riverclub. When I go to Tampa the gps always takes me straight up the 75. I dislike taking the 275 up because I've sat in traffic more times than not with that route.

There is no way I would drive from LWR to TPA everyday. Plus, LWR roads are now insanely congested at certain choke points, and it's getting worse.

Parrish (close to I-75, but not too close) to East Tampa is doable...LWR to East Tampa would need to be more of a temporary commute until other changes could be put into place. I did it for 2 years, then got transferred....luckily because the drive was getting really old by then, and I was <1mile from I-75 off State Rd 70...Braden Woods, so I was upto 75 mpg w/in 5 minutes of pulling out of my drive way.

I made the commute from Sarasota to east Tampa for over 3 years along I75. I would definitely stay north of SR70 and close to I75 but not close enough to hear it. Your husband would never need to travel over the skyway bridge going to or from work if he's near east lake. I would say beach43ofus is pretty spot on with everything they are contributing to this thread.
