Because of hurricane Ian storm damage, some events are still being cancelled or postponed to a later date. The Chalk Festival at Venice has been cancelled. I have tried to verify the events below as to which ones are still taking place as originally scheduled, but sometimes there is conflicting information. So I will do my best to report the weekend events.
Here's a list of fun things I've found that are going on in the Sarasota - Bradenton - Venice area this weekend:
THURSDAY
Lost Creek of Lakewood Ranch Halloween Block Party -- open to the public, music, trick or treating, food trucks, costume party, 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
FRIDAY
Free Music Friday Night Concert -- Venice's Centennial Park at the gazebo, 7 - 9 pm, bring lawn chairs.
Boo Fest -- Lakewood Ranch's Main Street, 6 - 9 pm. Costume contest, vendors, food & beverages available, live music.
SATURDAY
Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown at Lemon & Main, 7 am - 1 pm.
Central Sarasota Farmers Market -- corner Proctor & Beneva, 8 am - 1 pm.
Bradenton Farmers Market -- on Old Main Street (400 12th St W), 9 am - 2 pm. (Closed for the summer, back in October.)
Venice Farmers Market -- at the City Hall, 401 W Venice Ave, 8 am - 1 pm.
Summer Hours: 8 am - noon.
Live Music at Lakewood Ranch Waterside Place -- runs 6 - 9 pm.
Lakewood Ranch Boo Run -- 5K run or walk, starts at 7:30 am, LWR Main Street.
Halloween Block Party -- at El Melvin's at 1355 Main St, Sarasota, 12 noon - 2 am, live music, food, street tacos.
Boo at the Bishop -- trick or treat at the Bishop Museum in downtown Bradenton, 6 - 9 pm, $7/person, ages 4 and under get in free.
Boos & Brews -- big Halloween party at Motorworks Brewing, 1014 9th St, Bradenton, 6 pm - midnight. Costumes, contests, candy. Ages 21+.
Gator Club's Halloween Block Party -- 2 live bands, costumes, food trucks, 8 pm - 2:30 am, 1490 Main St, Sarasota.
Frightfully Fun at UTC (University Town Center Mall) -- trick or treat for the little ones 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
Caffine & Gasoline Car Show -- informal car show with donuts & coffee PLUS Humane Society Pet Adoption Day, 8 - 10 am, BMW of Sarasota on Clark Rd.
Sarasota Farmer's Market Dog-A-Ween Costume Contest -- 9 am at the downtown Farmer's Market.
Monsters Booze Cruise -- by LeBarge, leaves 9 pm, billed as "nightclub at sea" with full bar, costume contest, etc. Tickets $45 & up.
Bradenton's Main Street Live kicks off the season with a Halloween street party - music, vendors, food trucks, 6 - 9 pm, Old Main St.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest -- pony rides, petting zoo, pumpkin painting, Sat 2 pm kids costume contest, food vendors & more. 10 am - 5 pm, free admission, 7410 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota.
Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival -- arts & crafts, live music, hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo & other activities. 9 am - 5 pm, admission $15/adult, ages 10 & under get in free, parking $5 (cash only). Located on CR 675 half way between SR 64 & 70 in Manatee Co.
Trick or Cleat Softball Tournament -- girls softball teams, face painting, costume contests, 8 am - 6 pm, 4770 17th St, Sarasota.
SATURDAY - MONDAY
Mote Marine's A Scareium -- trick or treat stations, pumpkin carving under water, mascots, scavenger hunt, 9:30 - 5 pm, regular admission prices.
SUNDAY
Lakewood Ranch Farmers Market -- Waterside Place, 10 am - 2 pm.
The Meadows Farmers Market -- At the Meadows shopping village off Honore, 10 am - 2 pm.
Siesta Key Drum Circle -- at Siesta Key beach every Sunday about an hour before sunset.
Polo at Lakewood Ranch -- Season over, back next winter for a new season of polo matches.

The Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Show -- free show, starts 2 pm, 1602 Ken Thompson Pkwy by Mote.
Selby Gardens Spooktacular -- trick or treating, arts & crafts, story telling, 10 am - 2 pm. Adults $20, ages 5-17 $4, ages 4 & under get in free.
MONDAY - HALLOWEEN
Siesta Key Safe Treats -- Siesta Key merchants offering treats for the little ones, look for the balloons, 3 - 6 pm.
Venice's Childrens Costume & Halloween Parade -- children gather at Centennial Park at 4:30 pm, parade down Venice Ave at 5 pm.
Fright Night on St. Armand's Circle -- spooky store fronts, trick or treating for the little ones, 6 - 8:30 pm.
