So what entitles you to belong here over non-natives? Yes, it is a free country and if you don't like it now like you poo poo about it 22 hours a day, then go ahead and move.

I wonder how the Calusa indians feel about "One With Many Names"?

They were here before any of us.

I know few Calusa, but know quite a few Seminole here. As a descendant of my father's mother (and grandfather) who was (now long deceased) Choctaw from now the Panhandle and Mobile Bay, I know how many natives lived peacefully, and helped to grow but preserve the area and the culture. Many natives however got displaced by many violent and angry newcomers who knew everything, but knew nothing. This scenario ensued for a very long time throughout the South, our home. Unfortunately the cancellation is still put upon us, just with more self-righteousness.

Unfortunate, arrogant and erroneous assumption. Truly unfortunate but illuminates many, many considerations and observations about some newcomers and transplants.

Some of "us" are very much alive, here, and elsewhere.

Sad really, but perhaps just ignorant.

40 years ago, FLA was pretty nice too...when I came down to attend college in SE FLA at 17.

I blew through High School in just 3 years after seeing FLA for the 1st time when I was 12. I was so determined to get down here asap. I couldn't even get into the on-campus bar for 5 months because I was too young...just 17 yrs old.

It didn't matter, I was living in F-L-A

Its still a magical place to me, but its not like it was 40 years ago. I can live almost anywhere on Earth, & I chose F-L-A.

To tell people not to move here is selfish. Much of the magic is still here, but don't come down here w/o a boat load of cash, or a great job in hand.

The magic is gone, what magic? and having a boat load of cash has nothing to do with desirability, safety, availability of services, character or quality of people moving in you who must deal with in some form every day

I know, I'm not a transplant like many others who think they know everything. Blowhards seem omnipresent these days. People get old, arrogant, stupid, and omniscient here in Florida. It's truly a study! but I understand fully.

Don't worry the housing market is about to implode.

Port Charlottes appeal was it was cheaper than up north cheap homes, unpopulated, warm. Now it's expensive and over populated cost more than everywhere else except new York or Cali or something. It keeps getting hotter. Not sure why anyone would move here at this point but they keep coming. I'm out of here
