SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – A brood of alligators was spotted sunbathing along the edge of a Sarasota golf course Wednesday evening.

Footage of the adult and baby alligators was shared on Twitter by the City of Sarasota. According to the post, the gators were spotted by the city’s Senior Communications manager along the edge of Bobby Jones Golf Club.

Aww thanks for sharing that! So many babies all together looking quite content. I counted 12. The little guy yawning at the end was great!

Not only are they losing their habitat, people keep feeding alligators in spite of warnings not to do it. So then you end up with an alligator / dog confrontation along a shoreline because the alligator came up expecting food. The alligator gets declared dangerous and trappers come in. If it's more than 4 feet long, they will most likely kill it.

The reason you are seeing more alligators is the fact that when a development is built they install ponds. The more ponds the more places for the gators to spread out. So... you're not the only ones moving in.

Before there were developments and ponds, there was swamp. The ponds don't give the gators places to spread out, they concentrate them into smaller areas.
