Biggest concerts, comedians coming to Tampa Bay, Sarasota in October, November, December

For full article:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news...45b15296&ei=46

Fall's recent arrival may mean the summer blockbuster tour season is coming to a close, yet fear not if you're a lover of live music and stand-up comedy, as some of the biggest names in both are among the touring acts set to visit Tampa Bay over the next three months.

The first week of October alone, there'll be one of today's most popular stand-up comedians, a touring festival headlined by a country music legend, and the Clearwater-founded Hooters celebrating its 40th birthday with a hometown concert featuring a famed pop-rock group. Another iconic rock band is set to visit a few days later on its farewell tour making a stop at Tampa's Amalie Arena, with that venue's calendar also including a stand-up comedy superstar and a pop/hip-hop hitmaker (with one of Tampa's own opening the show.)

You'll find plenty more notable rock, pop, country, R&B, blues and stand-up comedy shows throughout the next three months at our various local venues, including Sarasota's Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. To help keep track of it all, here are our picks for the biggest concerts and comedy shows visiting Tampa Bay in October, November and December, presented in chronological order. Event details are subject to change.

Annual Hootenanny offers family friendly fun to celebrate and preserve 109-year-old Schoolhouse in Miakka

For full article:

https://www.fox13news.com/news/annua...-in-miakka.amp

A small community in Sarasota is working to preserve a piece of history that's stood for 109 years.

The Old Miakka Schoolhouse was a learning destination for local kids when it opened in 1914 and was built for $1,390.

The one-room schoolhouse would shut down 30 years later as the area grew and there were more modern options.

In 1948, the Miakka Community Club acquired the property for one dollar and has been committed to preserving the building ever since.

Their annual Hootenanny is the primary fundraiser for the upkeep and preservation efforts of the building.

This year’s celebration will take place on Sunday, October 1st, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It is expected to be a toe-tapping, knee-slapping, good time for the whole family with food, music and games.

Guests will also have the opportunity to learn about the history of the old school.

While the event is free to attend and parking is free, donations are welcome.

The Old Miakka Schoolhouse is located at 15800 Wilson Road in Sarasota.

It’s an exceptionally busy time at Selby Botanical Gardens, where workers are feverishly trying to finish up the first phase of a major transformation of the 15-acre campus along the Sarasota Bayfront.

Right now, you can take a tour of “Orchid Show 2023: A 50th Anniversary Celebration,” which is running through November. In addition to some beautiful orchid displays in the Conservatory, the Museum of Botany and the Arts is filled with memorabilia, photos and artifacts that trace the history of Selby Gardens itself.
