Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent hotel. Clean, safe area, not over flowing with kids and around $50 a night? LOL I'm serious. I am going doing for a few days and just going to be looking around and won't be hanging out at the hotel.

The strip of hotels/motels between the B/S airport and just before downtown are under $100 but they are not safe and used mostly for drug deals and unsuspecting tourists.
My xbf's drug dealer lives at the Super 8.......go figure.
$50....will get you five rocks...no room....double your money and head to the Holiday Inn on Lido beach, although watching the hookers on 41 on a weekend night can be interesting, watching the sunset on Lido Beach is a prettier picture.

OK there has been a change....
My kennel is full so now I need a told that takes dogs!
So far the best I found was $122 for the Residence Inn (AAA discount) and a $75 dog charge.
Now can anyone think of a better deal than that? Which areas should I avoid??? I don't want to be sleeping by druggies and hookers! YIKES!

Just be careful, that place has them too...I think they've redone it, however.

Thanks! I actually found a kennel to board my dogs so I was able to find a good deal on a house to rent for a week.

Lake wood ranch just outside of Sarasota is a nice area. I'm not sure what the price is but I stayed there when I was in town and thought it was great.

So far the best I found was $122 for the Residence Inn (AAA discount) and a $75 dog charge.
