The government has raided and closed the GREAT fish market in Punta Gorda. They do not want them selling fresh fish and cleaning the fish on location. We found out today although it apparently happened 2 weeks ago.

What a shame. This was the best place in SW Fla to obtain fresh fish, at wholesale prices. Sometimes there would be a line waiting to get in and it was well worth the wait rather than buy the rancid smelly garbage that Publix tries to pass off which usually comes from other countries.

There's supposed to be a story in tomorrow's local paper.

I know it's not close to Punta Gorda, but if you're ever near Sarasota, Captain Brian's is a great local fish market that's been around a long time. They have lines out the door too. It's on 41 by the airport. My hubby worked there for 6 years.
