Can somebody suggest which little league program to join in the LWR area? My family is relocating to the area and my 10 year old son is anxious to get involved in a league. I have done some research online and seen that there is Manatee East and a Cal Ripkin league. My son is a pretty good ball player and as mentioned is looking forward to playing ball and making new friends in the area. We will not be moving until just prior to school starting or just after school begins. I am hopeful that extra curricular activities will enable my children to make connections with others. Also, my 13 year old daughter plays volleyball. I saw there is a 3 day volleyball camp at St. Stephens. Is anybody familiar with that? Any other suggestions for where and how to meet other similar aged kids in the LWR area prior to school starting? My daughter is nervous about transfering to a new school and not knowing anybody on her first day of school. Thank you!

Which area of LWR are you moving to? We're in LWR also - new here. I have spotted some little leaguers last week in the LWR High School campus - so will try and find out more.

We have not finalized our move to LWR yet. However, I have seen homes on realtor.com that fit our lifestyle and price range in River Club and the Greenbrook areas. Through research, I have found that the middle schools differ though, Braden River or Nolan. We are anxious to relocate prior to school starting, but cannot control the time due to my husband's business. Any new information about either baseball or volleyball leagues/camps? If all goes as planned, I would love to get my children involved in activities to help ease the transition.

Default We're in Greenbrook and love it

Short walk to adventure park with nature trail, biking paths everywhere - loads of families. You'd love it here.

Manatee East Little League is what you want. Right now, there is the winter league playing. Not as competitive as the spring league. If your son wants to play hardcore ball and get great coaching, he should look into the travel teams for the winter.

We just moved here and are currently living in Edgewater. Very private, beautful and safe, but not many kids. We just bought a house in the country club and can't wait to finally settle in.

Good Luck

I've lived in LWR for 4 years. Baseball little league at the LWR highschool then there is a Cal Ripkin league that plays in Heritage Harbor off Hwy 64. My daughter is 13 and plays Volleyball in a competitive league with the Suncoast Club. suncoastvolleyball.com
