Can someone recommend a reputable bike shop which is staffed by personable and knowledgeable people?

Thanx,

Hey SmileDoc1,

This one has a good recommendation online:
Sarasota Bicycle Center, Sarasota, FL : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local

I know there is a bicycle shop on the way out to Siesta Key (by the north bridge). It's near a car dealership and at the end of Bee Ridge Rd. It's been there since I was a kid. I can't think of the name of it but I've heard good things about that shop.

Hi SoFlGal,
We actually went there before I posted the message. We had a saleswoman who was truly out in space. I can't remember the last time a salesperson was so out of it.
In Sunday's Sarasota Herald there was a "Best of Sarasota" issue, which I am sure is rigged and not truly indicative of anything. There was a bike shop on S. Osprey which was "voted" #1. It was closed on Monday. But good fortune struck. RIght next door was Village Bicycle and they were GREAT. A1 in customer service. No pressure. They actually encouraged us to go to other bike stores to try out bikes. Plus they adjust the bikes free of charge twice a year. I would recommend them highly.
Thanx for the help.

You may want to try Fastrack Bicycle and Run at the corner of Orange and Dolphin. Talk to Elaine. I believe they are still there and the phone number is (941) 955-BIKE. With the construction along Orange Avenue, I know they may have reduced their hours, but the last time I checked, they were open Monday through Saturday.

Hi Loves2read,
Trust me, a helmet is a must. When I see people on a bike without a helmet I cringe. One mistake and it's over.
