Interesting article in paper about the community Development districts having gated community. They apparently cannot stop the public from entering legally because tax money puts in the roads in the subs.

Here in Lakewood Ranch they are really upset. We decided "not' to live behind gates and pay a whole lot more in HOA and CDD fees. Never quite understood it. Yes, you have to go through a gate but the perimeter of the development has a 3 or 4 foot wood fence?

What are the cdd and hoa there? My niece lives in one near Ellenton Mall her's are over 200 a month. She has no gated entrance. It was a Bruce williams subdivision I cant think of name.
