Hey all My wife and I are looking to move to Florida by next November from Minnesota. I wanna move so I can work as a ocean lifeguard. I have looked at these 3 cities and I know PCB does not have lifeguards but does have surf and beach rescue. We have a son who would be close to 2 years at the time of the move and we are both in our mid 20's I was just wondering giving our age, and my hopeful profession where would be the best city to move to. I hope you guys can give me some help that would be great. Thanks

Of the choices I like Sarasota the best, by far but it's my personal preference. The beaches on the other coast are very different than here. The water is much colder since they are on the Atlantic, the water is much rougher and there's always funky stuff floating in it-big clumps of seaweed, sticks, etc. The sand is also more rocky and in my opinion it's just not as nice over there.

I would try Siesta Beach, its always been rated as one of the top beaches in the world. The sand is made of white quartz and is like white powdery, sugar sand. It doesn't burn your feet when it gets really hot.

Sarasota county has a great school system and many of the schools are "A" rated. Here's a link to the school board where you can get more info: Sarasota County Schools, Home There's a ton of stuff to do around here: The Sarasota Children's Garden, Mote Marine, GWIZ, Ringling, Selby Library, Sarasota Jungle Gardens, etc.

I think you will find that this coast is more laid back and casual than the east coast. It's not as busy and hurried. I am a native of SW Florida and was born in Bradenton, just north of Sarasota. I was raised here and I'm raising my three kids here ages 16, 11 and 4. I couldn't be happier and think it's a great place to bring up a family.

Good luck with whatever you choose!
