We went to look at a house last night near Dearborn street . Wife says she didn't see any lights. I don't remember if I did or didn't. The taxes on the house are several thousand dollars a year and we would be shocked if there's no street lights.

Are there or aren't there and if not, why not?

We're going back in a few hours to look again. Hmmm.

Here's the interesting thing about Englewood, it's not a city. Huh? Half of Englewood is in Sarasota County (Dearborn St. included) and half is in Charlotte County. My neighbor said it's a "location" not a city.
I don't know whether there are any street lights on Dearborn but prob. not.
One of the things I like is there isn't a lot of light pollution when I go outside at night to look at the stars.

Maybe no street lights but I believe the part of Englewood in Sarasota has sewers & public water.

In East Englewood (Charlotte County) there is public water but septic. I hope when we build in 10 years or so the sewers will be in as well.

Anne

I'm not sure if there are lights near that area or not ,but since the thermometer here seems to have frozen below freezing for some reason, I'm tempted to grab a plane and go see for myself!! Now that you mention it ,I remember how well you could see the reflectors on Rte.#776 around there which could be due to the lack of streetlighting overhead.

Englewood Charlotte County has city water (really good water ) and sewer. Farther south/east people have septic and are militant about not wanting sewers because of cost. That may be South Gulf Cove or Rotonda.

Mr T
I was on Dearborn today going to the library and saw 2 kinds of street lights on Dearborn. Parts have the tall highway kind and there are also the cute street lamps that are more fashionable. So I guess it's pretty well lit.

NO, no street lights. except on main streets. So where does all the tax money go?

We are going to try and buy this house nevertheless and made an offer ( offer accepted but it's a short sale so the clock really just starts ticking so I'm told ).

Like the town. Has a neat feel to it. This area is all on sewer and city water.
