I'm an American living in the UK and just bought a house in Sarasota. Getting a mortgage in the US was very difficult even with excellent US credit scores. If your income is in pounds through a non-US firm you will have trouble if Fanny Mae underwrites the loan. It can be done but it takes effort.

Check out how much health care will cost you in this country and factor it in to your decision. Between the premiums and the deductions, it will cost you thousands of dollars a year.
