Yeah, just wanted to catch you before you offered on a property and regretted it.

Ridgewood Estates (off McIntosh), Hyde Park Terr (around Swift & Tuttle), Sarasota Springs (off Bee Ridge) These are the best bets out of that group IMO.

There are even houses in Port Charlotte that can be purchased in that price range. Not much of a house mind you, but a single family house and unlike most places in the world, you pay for it and you own it, land, house, etc.

So, cmon down and enjoy the sunshine.

IMO I think someone who really enjoys the beach might be unhappy living in certain areas of Florida that are lower priced, especially where all the trees have been leveled. Parts of Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres look barren and some communities I've seen in Punta Gorda are almost devoid of vegetation. Also, you need to check out the crime statistics in each area. I mean, it would be great to get a deal for $30,000 in Florida, but unfortunately the listings can't say "city water, city sewer and drive-by shootings."

So when you see those ads for cheap houses, you can't really tell what you're going to get until you see it. Keep in mind that the closer you get to the beach, the more you're likely to pay.

Very true. I suppose it depends on how important home ownership is to a person. I'm starting to consider an older home that has been renovated (newer roof, HVAC, etc.) I once bought a home that (ahem) needed "a little TLC" and it was a 7 year fixer-upper. So it's important to get a really good inspector and to make sure the owner is telling the truth.
