Noisy gas blowers can be a horrible nuisance if you're home during the day and living in a compact neighborhood. To what extent is this a problem in Sarasota and the surrounding neighborhoods? Are there any ordinances regulating their use?

You will see them in HOA's used by the landscaping crew. I HATED it. It was a constant source of noise, air and other pollution. I think they make noise just so homeowners think they're getting their moneys worth because they can hear people "working" when in actuality they are stirring up ground pollution and adding to the air pollution and doing very little useful work.
Now I live in a normal (non-HOA) neighborhood and a few neighbors use them for just a few minutes a week. Much better.

Imagardener, thanks for this helpful post. Two questions:

(1) I would have thought that HOAs would have been more restrictive than non-HOAs. Could you explain why that isn't the case?

(2) Could you name some Sarasota neighborhoods where the blower problem is manageable (as in the case of your present neighborhood)? Those would be our candidate places to move to!

That was one of the issues I had with Village walk. Such a nuisance, but the grounds are beautiful! It's such a large community I felt like every time I pulled out of my garage, there were landscapers at work. This was something I hadn't thought much of before I bought, and comes with the territory when you live in a place that is constantly manicured to perfection.
