My wife and I are planning a combination vacation/possible buying trip to the Sarasota area later this year and from what we can see...the Lido Beach Resort...comes highly recommended......I was wondering if anyone had stayed there and could offer their opinions of the resort and the area......

My Friends family owns Lido Beach Resort-- It is very nice, in my opinion a bit pricey- THen again, all places on the water are- depending on when you are going, it can be a bit congested in the area. However, it bring a lot of amenities nearby also. There is a nice pool area right on the water, and a nice place for dining as well.-- It's a good choice in my opinion

I got married there and have stayed there several times. It is nice, there is an older building and a much taller newer building. There is a nice pool area with Tiki Bar, and a wonderful restaurant with one of the best views at the top of the newer building- It is my favorite place for brunch.

My last stay there I just received a gift from my husband, a very nice watch. I made the mistake of not locking it up in the safe, and left it on the nightstand. It was gone when I returned. I did speak to management and it never resurfaced for the remainder of my stay. It was a very expensive lesson I learned. I would not deter you from staying, just please learn from my mistake, lock up you valuables, as you should do anywhere.

My wife and some friends went to Lido Beach this past week, and thought it was nice, on the same day they went to Siesta Key Beach which they love, and prefer the sand there. The sand is the finest white, baby powder consistency that you will find anywhere. You will have a wonderful time! I don't think you can go wrong -- IF YOU BRING PLENTY OF SUN SCREEN!

I agree with BH, My wife and I have stayed on both beaches and we preferred Siesta Key Beach ,the sand is awesome because it stays cool, even in the heat of July, and your close to many things there, although I'm thinking you may encounter a few more people there than at Lido, so you would have to take that into consideration

Smile Thank-you

Thank-you for your responses....I was hoping that there would be more...but all my research has indicated...that the Lido Beach Resort...gives the most for the money...I definately will be going to Siesta Key for a day or two...as well as several other areas...but I can see...that my wife wants more days on the beach in the sun...than I want...

My husband and I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Lido Beach on Ben Franklin Drive a few times. We obtained a room facing the gulf. You can see the sunset from the balcony.
It's just a 10 minute walk from "downtown" Lido with all the fun shops and restaurants. The management provides towels and chairs for the beach, although one can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas. We really like the place for the price and location.

My wife and I and my sister-in-law went to St Armands Circle for the afternoon yesterday, after the rains began to clear up. Who needs New York? That place is beautiful! The ladies had all the shopping they could take! (And a whole lot more than I could take! LOL) The circle with the huge palm trees were cool, and the rest of the landscaping was well done. The stores were tastefully decorated. If I wasn't a guy - I'd love the place! After a couple Margauritas the place really began to grow on me! Whew! I'm glad I'm back home with my wallet still intact! LOL
