The way that kayak was bucking and bouncing are you absolutely sure it was manatee poo you was smellin? he he ha ha lol....had to say it.
ps.
thanks for the info....

Yeah, It coulda been me, but it wasn't I had to check though! I was really stunned when it happened - pretty scared for a second. I never expected that!

It was one of the first times I'd ever been on a kayak, and wasn't expecting the drift and push the wind would give me. I was afraid I'd be chastised for telling that story, cuz I don't think anyone should disturb or cause the manatee to be scared or disturbed like that. That part was purely accidental.

I'm pretty sure it was alone. I didn't see any calf.

hey JB make sure you shower before you come over !!!!! I fired up my newgrill last night - some pretty neat steaks if i say so my self.

your story reminded me of an old k joke- with a new twist.

a young indian brave goes to the wise old man and says 'wise old man how are we given our names?'
the chief thinks andsays
" well young man , when we are young there is an event that shapes our lives and this gives us our name. for instance (and he points to a warrior) when he was born there was a full moon so bright so he is called Bright Moon, and that one (pointing to a young girl) was born the day a new flower bush started growing so she is now Small flower"
and the old man looks at him and says

" tell me why do you ask this- Manatee Crap??" (the original is rather ruder and involves 2 dogs etc :-)

Now I remember the other reason I was reluctant to tell this story! But it is funny - just the same.

Thanks for sharing the manatee story. Really enjoyed reading it, BH. I must add.....only you could rile up such a docile animal.

LOL, and that was totally accidental. I would never ever want to hurt a creature like that! I was so excited to see it! All I wanted to do was get a good picture. Not have it create a great picture moment!

I can relate a little bit Big House.

I was walking on a pier at Clearwater one time and a huge Pelican flew over the top of me and managed to poop all down my head and back.

Don't want to get graphic but it was really nasty. There also was no place for me to jump in the water (safely) untill I walked off the pier.

On the odds scale though I must think that probably happens far more often than being pooped on by a manatee
