Hi all,
I am 34 and single and my brother is 37 and single. We are thinking of moving to Sarasota. However, he has to work at the Tampa International airport ONLY (not the sarasota airport).
Are there any neighborhoods that are 1 hour or less from tampa in sarasota? Any help would be much appreciated!!

p.s. He can also work at the Ft Myers airport.

That's what I would suggest as well. LWR for the location that you need.

I have a son of 25 who lives in Tampa and loves the Temple Terrace area, also look at Davies Island in downtown Tampa

Any of the neighborhoods off University Parkway would probably fill the bill. We live in Whitfield Estates, my hubby drives to downtown Tampa everyday, about one hour. We love it here. Sarasota is a much better place to live (in our opinion) than Tampa.

Bradenton is approx 50 minutes from TIA. Anywhere in Sarasota is cutting it close, most likely more than an hour, esp. with traffic. Your benefit in Bradenton is being closer to 19/275.

Venice is approx 1 hour from Ft Myers airport, but North Port would be a better location. All depends on what kind of town you want to live in.

Thanks, everyone. Looks like I will look into LWR. What are the names of the places to look for "off University parkway"?

University Park and Palm Aire are two that come to mind. If I think of more I will post them later.

As you know, LWR, University Park and Palm Aire are all nice places; all are actually in Bradenton. Also look into Desoto Lakes, The Meadows, Braden Woods, each with their own personality - and don't forget the next exit south, Fruitville Rd (only about another minute of drive time on 75), has some more neighborhoods worth considering.... you're targeting my kind of area.

Actually LWR, Univeristy Park and Palm Aire are in MANATEE COUNTY, not Bradenton. They are actually considered more a part of Sarasota, as is my neighborhood of Whitfield Estates. They changed the county boundaries way back when the aiport was built and wanted it to straddle the two counties. just want to make that distinction! Not that it really matters, personally I prefer paying Manatee County taxes and having their services - cheaper and better.
