The millage rate for Sarasota county is 12.5588 and Charlotte county millage rate is 14.8985. Insurance does not go so much by county as it does by the individual home. Some things that are weighted heavily when figuring insurance are: the age of the home, the construction of the home-wood frame-concrete block, how the roof is tied down, if it has a hip roof or not, how close it is to a natural body of water or fire hydrant, if the home has any type of hurricane protection-shutters, impact resistant glass, etc. Also whether the home is in a flood zone and if so what zone it is in. Most of the property west of US 41 is located in a flood zone and some east of 41 is.
