I love House Hunters and HGTV and Property Virgins. DIY has some good shows too. I liked Vanilla Ice's show and he seems to know a lot about all things Florida and you can tell he loves this state.

This is an old thread ... but makes you wonder what the Straub's home is worth now in 2011 ???

Does anyone believe that the area has bottomed out yet ? SoFLGal ???

Zillow greeted me this morning with another 1% decline. To be fair though, it has been vacillating for a while now, looking a bit like someone on life support.

Since March 2009, it has bounced twice, and is now essentially at the same price point as then.

This is by no means an endorsement of Zillow's analytical or predictive powers- I look at Zillow as a way to look at broad trends for the most part.

HHH

Speaking of House Hunters, we were watching it one night, and it was a couple looking for a house in the town next to us, so we're paying close attention, and they're at one of their choices, and I see that it's mr.cool's brother's old house!!! Sure enough, one of their choices was in OUR town, not the one next to us where they eventually did buy.

Holy Cow....what a coincidence!!! I wonder what the odds of something like that happening are? Thanks for sharing.....love that show, don't you? The only BAD thing about the show, (Jim says), is that it gives people BAD ideas as to what they want to see in OUR house! Haha!

I know! We were pretty surprised! We DO love that show! But the prices are so unrealistic! But I guess that's good, if you're selling, right?

Hi. This is the Straub family that was on the episode you are referring to. I believe that we made a great purchase and just because a website lists our property value doesn't mean that it is correct. Also, we are not planning on selling. We bought the house as a home to grow our family in (which we are doing), not to make a huge profit. Please do not be rude. And by the way, almost every home in the area has declined in value since we bought in 2008- unfortunately, that's just the way the market and economy are right now.
