We over at South Lido today and I remember reading something about a bridge going from Lido to Siesta many years ago. Does anyone know what happen to that idea. They are so close together in relative distance but to drive there is a different story.

I have never heard that, and highly doubt they would ever be putting in a bridge to join the two. For one, they would have to build through the South Lido Park and Nature Center, and there would be no where to really connect the two that is not privately owned. I don't think anyone in the community would want it on Lido or Siesta, and the drive is relatively very short compared to the cost to taxpayers and the havoc on nature and traffic it would bring. There really is no justification for it.

This is going back to the 50's and it was going to be called Big Pass Bridge. I agree with you that it wouldn't happen now with the parks there and the high end real estate across the way.
