Can anyone here tell me the most affordable places to rent a storage unit in the area? I've gotten a couple of quotes, but anybody with experience chiming in would be great. I do not need a very large one, nor do I need climate controlled. Somewhat close to our place on Siesta Key would be great, but if is much cheaper to be farther from our place, I could handle that. I am also looking into the PODS option.

There is a Public Storage facility just north of Stickney Point Road and Tamiami Trail. It's a three story building with all interior units climate control.

The prices were about even with other storage unit places I've seen and the people were friendly when I rented there a few years ago.

I would recommend climate control because with the florida humidity anything will mold and mildew.

Wow! If anyone wants a great deal on storage, try upickstorage.com -you put in a price you want to pay and they send it out to storage units that then send you offers. We got a 5x10 climate controlled on Siesta Key for $45.00 a month.

There are two brand new storage facilities that opened in North Port called Patriot Self Storage -- patriotstorage.com
Very professional staff and high tech with climate control options.

snivlem, I am glad you had a good experience with them. Ive found upickstorage to be rude and aggressive towards my staff. i'd never use them. period.

There is a storage facility that sits on 41 just shy of Stickney Pt. in front of the alphabet avenues. I will have to drive by tomorrow and get the name.
