Can anyone tell me if it is standard practice in Florida to charge a buyer additional brokerage fees, say $250-$500? This would be from the buyer's brokerage firm. I have not seen this done elsewhere, but perhaps it is more standard practice in Florida. I would appreciate anyone's experience or knowledge about this. Thanks!

This may be a transcation fee charged by the brokerage. Make the agent pay it for you. I nver pass this charge on as the buyer client should never pay and fees apart from agreed in the contract IMHO

Thanks for your thoughts. this was presented to me as all brokerage firms did this, which has not been my experience.......but I thought perhaps Florida was different. I appreciate the reply.

Yes, almost every company charges a transaction agency/brokerage/archiving/junk-what ever you want to call it fee. The average is around $250 but I've seen some that are higher. Although I don't like the idea, my company just started charging this fee about six months ago and it's a $250 fee.

I would rather pay this fee than have my client pay the fee.

Thanks for the reply. I have never seen this fee before; however it does sound like it is something that is becoming more prevalent, unfortunately. It is really nice to get an answer from realty professionals...... Thanks for taking the time.

LOL, I think that the fees, and breakdowns, and charges, and tack-ons will just continue, and as every surcharge, and tax increase that continually gets tacked, I guess you guys will feel guilty and feel responsible to pay them too.

I think the brokers, add them on, and doesn't care weather the buyer pays, the seller pays, you agents pay, or the underpressure mortage company coffing up a foreclosure pays. Unfortunately you agents feel like you gotta eat these costs on behalf of your clients so you can keep the deal alive. It not going to end their, and you guys shouldn't have to feel like you have to eat the costs that others impose in the deals. That s _ x!
